FEES
FEES FOR SURGERY
Privately Insured Patients:
Being in a Private health fund allows you and your family to access the right health services at the right time. You have control of the provider, facility and timing of your treatment.
The Hand Surgery Centre charges fees in accordance with the Australian Medical Association recommended fee schedule. This means that patients will have an “out of pocket” expense between our surgical fee and what is covered by Medicare and your health fund combined.
There will be other charges involved in your surgical care including:
- Hospital excess if applicable.
- Anaesthetist.
- Surgical Assistant.
Please keep in mind that you are responsible for your total obligation should your insurance benefits result in less coverage than anticipated/no coverage.
Self-Insured (Uninsured):
Patients may be able to choose private admission even if they do not have private health insurance. Self-funded patients will be responsible to pay the following:
- The gap between the Medicare benefit and Specialist/Anaesthetist/Assistant fees.
- Hospital fees in full (this includes the surgical fees, bed fees and any prostheses that may be required for the procedure).
Essentially this means you must meet all costs of the admission yourself up front and then claim the Medicare rebate applicable to the Surgeon/Anaesthetist and Assistant Surgeon fees. There is no claimable rebate from the hospital fees.
PAYMENT POLICY
Payment of surgical fees in full is required 3 days prior to surgery and our reception staff will contact patients to arrange this. Payment is accepted either over the phone via credit card, in rooms in person, or alternatively patients can pay their fees via direct deposit.
